“Be the energy you want to attract.”

A few weeks ago I created a video talking about some changes that I was making to my lifestyle. In case you missed it, you can find that video on Youtube by clicking here. In a nutshell, I had been adding fresh pressed juices to my diet. At the time I hadn’t planned on doing a juice cleanse. But after just a couple of weeks of juicing I was already sleeping better and my energy level was higher. These much needed results really increased my interest in juicing. So I spent some time researching how it’s beneficial for overall health and seeing some of the results others have had from juicing and juice cleanses. Sooooo, I decided to do a three day fast! Here’s how it went!

Day 1

Day one started out good. I had that day one excitement and I was feeling powerful with a “I can do this” spirit! Towards the end of the day I became really hungry. But it wasn’t unbearable. Then day two happened.

Day 2

I woke up around 5am and I was so hungry. Unable to get back to sleep, I tossed and turned until I finally got up around 7. I had my warm lemon water and breakfast juice and I felt better. I thought I had made it through the worst of it, but I was so wrong. I was miserable all day. The juice just wasn’t satisfying enough. I craved solid food like you wouldn’t believe. I began regretting starting the cleanse. Then I started telling myself why I didn’t need to do a juice cleanse anyway. It was horrible. It’s terrible being that hungry. Finally that evening I texted a friend who had done three day and fifteen day juice cleanses to tell her of my misery. Her words were encouraging enough to make me press on! Needless to say, I went to bed early that night.

Day 3

Day three I woke up feeling like a new woman! I had a burst of energy, and once again I had an “I can do this” spirit! The day went by great and I can honestly say that I never felt hungry until that evening when I smelt dinner cooking. But even then, the hunger wasn’t intense like it was on day two. I was also anxious, knowing that this was my last day. I kept thinking of everything that I wanted to eat the next day. From cheeseburgers to pizza, I wanted it all! But I knew it was just a thought. You can’t come off a three day juice fast and eat like that. Unless you want to feel extremely bad.

Ultimately I really wanted this cleanse to be a jumpstart to eating healthier in general. The Monday after my cleanse I started with my normal morning juice. For snacks and lunch I had fresh fruits and vegetables. Then for dinner I had half a bowl of quinoa with kale and chunks of baked chicken breast.

Since then I have been more conscious of what I’m eating. And fresh fruits and veggies are a part of my everyday life. (Of course I still have a burger or a naughty snack from time-to-time, but I always get back on track). I have a fresh juice in the morning, and sometimes as a snack later in the day. I still feel great as far as my energy level, and my sleep is the best! I did lose 4 lbs during the juice fast, but I didn’t jump for joy. I know it was only water weight, and I’d much rather that 4 lbs be from burned fat. I didn’t measure my waist so I can’t say for sure if I lost any inches.

I’ve fasted from food for 8-10 hours before, but I’ve never done a fast this extreme. Drinking juices doesn’t make it any easier in my opinion because that intense hunger was still there at times. I don’t know if I’d ever do it again, but I’m happy that I can say that I did it, and it has made a difference. Have you ever done a juice cleanse? What was it like for you? juicing

The main juice that I like to have a few times each week is called Mean Green. It has apples, celery, cucumber, ginger root, lemon, and kale. It definitely has an acquired taste.

Since my juicer is smaller, I have to chop up my larger produce so that it fits into the chute. This takes so much time, but I plan on investing in a larger juicer very soon!

After I juice everything, I pour it through a strainer to eliminate some of the foam.

 

And yes, I drink my juices from a wine glass! #TheHauteLifestyle
