“You don’t have to be perfect to be amazing!”
Hey beauties! With July 4th right around the corner, I’m sure you’ll be spending a lot of time in the sun! Whether you’re cooking out or spending the day at the beach, protecting your skin should always be a priority when spending time under the sun! I recently received some complimentary La Roche-Posay sunscreen products courtesy of Influenster. These products came just in time, as my family left for our annual beach vacation a couple of days later. I don’t usually do reviews on products like this, but keep reading to find out why I felt like these were worth mentioning.
Anthelios Dermo-Kids Gentle Sunscreen Lotion
This is a face and body SPF 60 sunscreen for kids! My normal sunscreen is SPF 50, so knowing that my kids have that extra protection is great! Like most others, it’s water resistant for 80 minutes. It’s also unscented, paraben free, and suitable for sensitive skin. I was able to find this product at Target for $19.99. It does cost twice as much as my normal sunscreen brand. The price is the only factor that prevents me from committing to purchasing this product in the future. If my budget allows, I’d definitely purchase it for the higher SPF protection. If not, I’m not opposed to continuing to use our regular brand.
Anthelios Clear Skin Dry Touch Sunscreen
This is an oil-free SPF 60 sunscreen for your face! I was so impressed with this product! First off, I have oily skin, which means I’m very particular about the products I use on my face. Especially moisturizers. Oil equals breakouts! My normal sunscreen contains oil, so putting it on my face isn’t an option. I usually depend on the SPF 30 protection in my everyday facial moisturizer. But this oil free dry touch sunscreen worked perfect on my skin! After applying it to my face, my skin looked just as matte as it had prior to application. It feels so great to have the extra SPF protection for my face, without looking oily or risking a breakout. I also found this at Target for $19.99. Since I don’t use a product that is comparable to this, I’ll definitely be purchasing it in the future!
My UV Patch
I must say that I really love the technology behind this product! This is a heart shaped transparent patch that you put anywhere on your body that is exposed to the sun. For monitoring, you have to download the My UV Patch app in the Apple Store or Google Play. After creating a profile, you scan the patch periodically and it gives you info about the UV index, your daily UV dose measurement, and your UV exposure level. It uses this info to tell you which sunscreen products are best for you, and when you’ve had enough sun. It’s water resistant and the app let’s you know when it’s time to scan, so you don’t have to worry about remembering. After your initial scan, you scan again 30 minutes later, then every hour after that.
My youngest daughter and I wore the patches. (Hopefully you caught it on my IG story). It was about 2 1/2 hours after we arrived at the beach that the scan indicated that we’d had enough sun. I’ve looked all over for My UV Patch. It seems that as of now, the company is only offering them for free with the purchase of another sunscreen product from their online store. I haven’t found a way to actually purchase them, so I assume they are in the marketing research phase with it.
I do have two small issues with the patch. For one, I don’t believe that it considers your sunscreen protection when determining your UV exposure level. Shouldn’t this make a difference? Also the brochure claims that the adhesive lasts up to three days, however mine was starting to come up the first day. Maybe it was because of where I had it, on the back of my wrist. (Like the model on their website). I think that if it was somewhere like on my back or upper arm it might have lasted longer. They should recommend the best places to put it, because when you’re reaching in and out of a beach bag, the back of the arm won’t be the best place for it.
Although I love the technology, I don’t think this will be a product that I will purchase once it is available for sale. I think I’ll stick to applying sunscreen every 80 minutes, and limiting our time in the sun to a couple of hours.
Thank you so much for reading my thoughts on these La Roche-Posay sun protection products! I hope this review has helped you determine if these products are right for you and your family. Have you used any of these products before? What did you think?
